    Courants d'images. Réseaux de mémoire, signes de présence?

La onzième édition de dpi, la revue électronique du Studio XX, s'attaque 
aux flux d'images constants qui rythment nos sociétés et nos vies 
(télévision, publicité, web). Ce nouveau numéro cherche à identifier les 
nouvelles frontières visuelles. Il questionne les nouveaux espaces créés 
par les images qui peuplent nos palais de mémoire mais qui construisent 
aussi les réseaux internet. D'autres articles interrogent l'acte même de 
représentation et les signes qui nous entourent. Quand d'autres enfin 
s'attachent aux images de femmes, des femmes cachant telles des icônes 
ce qu'on ne veut pas voir, des femmes cachées que des images révèlent.

      _No 12 Détournement de technologies mobiles vers des propositions
      artistiques.

Dans ce dernier numéro de la revue qui clôt le thème de la mobilité, 
nous aimerions nous pencher sur les oeuvres qui se déploient à travers 
et grâce à des technologies qui favorisent la mobilité ou encore, des 
oeuvres qui les utilisent comme sujet. De la simple caméra vidéo aux 
téléphones cellulaires, au système GPS, Ipod, BlackBerry et lecteurs DVD 
portables, qu'est-ce qui émergent des propositions artistiques abordant 
ces nouveaux médiums ? Comment s'inscrivent ces projets dans la sphère 
sociale et artistique ? Ou encore, face à une industrie du 
divertissement (jeux en ligne ou sur téléphones cellulaires) qui génère 
une économie importante, comment un projet artistique peut se concevoir, 
se positionner ou tirer partie de cet univers lucratif et ludique.

Résumé d'une intention de texte (100 mots) accompagné d'une courte 
biographie (100 mots) pour le *22 avril 2008*.

Texte final (de 1500 à 2000 mots) pour le *15 mai 2008*.
Un cachet de 150$ pour le texte final sélectionné est prévu.

Lancement de la publication en ligne début juin.

    Chronique féministe: intimité(s), identités et surveillance

.dpi propose d'explorer les frontières réelles et imaginaires, qui 
modulent les rapports sociaux, et la transgression de ces frontières 
(lignes de conduite, marqueurs de la marge, indicateurs binaires, 
passages, souterrains, bornes, cadres, lisières) par des femmes.

Pistes de réflexions et idées à développer:

    * la politisation des sexualités
    * les sphères d'investissement des femmes et les attentes sociales
      envers elles (public/privé, finances, travail, maternité, loisirs,
      etc.)
    * l'identité rebelle de certaines femmes ou groupes de femmes face à
      leur stigmatisation
    * l'emprisonnement des femmes, par exemple, les liens entre
      l'intimité des femmes, leur identité de «criminelle» et le
      contrôle social exercé à leur endroit, allant jusqu'à l'incarcération
    * l'itinérance des femmes au sens large: les multiples
      configurations du «chez soi», la précarité des conditions de vie
      des femmes et leurs stratégies d'empowerment face au système
    * le décloisonnement des sensations par l'art, son apport à la
      mobilité du «soi»
    * la récupération esthétique de la marge par la mode/la
      normalisation des images corporelles et des corps
    * les expériences cosmopolites
    * les travailleuses du sexe migrantes et le discours sur le trafic
      des femmes ou femmes et migrations de manière générale
    * la fluidité marchande et la restriction des déplacements humains
    * l'appropriation de lieux inusités par les femmes
    * l'intimité virtuelle: webcam, clavardoirs, blogues & pornographie
    * Identités multiples & engagement, singulier ou pluriel, etc.

Née d'un désir de créer un espace interdisciplinaire créatif, critique 
et engagé socialement, la revue .dpi est un véritable lieu d'échanges 
traitant des femmes et des technologies. Évoluant dans la voix du 
logiciel libre, .dpi utilise les blogues pour construire une plate-forme 
alternative, un forum qui nourrit une réflexion féministe sur le Net. 
Ouverte aux voix insolites, .dpi cherche à:

    * questionner et redéfinir le cyberféminisme,
    * discuter des réalité vécues par les femmes dans les paysages
      technologiques contemporains
    * faire découvrir les femmes oeuvrant dans le domaine des nouveaux
      médias.

    Image Streams, Memory Networks, signs of presence ?

The 11th edition of .dpi, Studio XX's Electronic Magazine will focus on 
the constant flow of images which drive our societies and our lives 
(television, publicity, web). This new issue seeks to identify the new 
visual frontiers, questioning the new spaces created by the images which 
people our collective memory palaces, and also create Internet networks. 
Parallel articles will question the act of representation itself, as 
well as the signs and symbols around us. When other articles finally 
attach themselves to women's images, women hiding like icons we don't 
truly want to see, hidden women are revealed in images.

      _No 12 Mobile technologies appropriated for artistic proposals

This latest edition of the revue is the final instalment on the topic of 
mobility. Let's take a look at works that are not only created and made 
possible by mobile technologies, but also works that focus on, promote, 
and utilise this technology as subject matter. From the simple video 
camera to cellular phones, from GPS to the Ipod, the BlackBerry, and 
portable DVD players, what emerges from the artistic proposals that 
address these new technologies? How do you classify these projects in 
social and artistic circles? When compared to the entertainment industry 
(on line or cell telephone based gaming) that generates important 
revenues, how can an artistic project be conceived, marketed and make a 
profit in this lucrative game oriented universe?

We seek contributions which expand on the above theme.
These can vary between 1500 and 2000 words.
A 50-word abstract is required.
Please also submit a 100-word biographic blurb.

      _Feminist Column: Intimacy, Identity, and Surveillance

.dpi proposes to explore the real and imaginary borders, which shape 
social relations, and the transgression of its borders (lines of 
conduct, margin markers, binary indicators, underground passages, 
limits, structures, edges) by women.

Possible topics:

    * Sexual Politics
    * Women's spheres of investment and social expectations between them
      (public/private, finances, motherhood, leisure, etc.)
    * The rebellious identity of certain women or group of women in
      reaction to their stigmatization
    * Imprisonment of women, for example, intimate relationships between
      women, their criminal identity and social control to which they
      are submitted that goes as far as incarceration
    * Women homelessness: the many configurations of the «the home»,
      precariousness of living conditions for women, and their
      strategies of empowerment against the system
    * De-structuring sensations through art, its relation to one's own
      mobility
    * Aesthetic recycling of the margin by fashion/normalization of body
      images
    * Cosmopolitan experiences
    * Migrant sex workers and the discourse pertaining to the traffic of
      women, or women and migration in a general matter
    * Market fluidity and the restrictions of human displacements/migrations
    * Appropriation of uncommon spaces by women
    * Virtual intimacy: webcam, chatrooms/ discussion groups, blogs &
      pornography
    * Multiple identities & engagement (singular or plural), etc.

The length of the column should be of about a 1000 words and submissions 
should include a summary of 50 words as well as a biography of a 100 
words. These are subject to modifications (style, length, clarity) by 
the .dpi committee. We invite you to submit illustrations and photos. 
Please include: ideas, commentaries, essays, experiences, relationships, 
drawings, etc.

Stimulated by a desire to create a critical, and socially and creatively 
engaged transdisciplinary space, .DPI addresses cyberfeminism and 
broader issues involving women and their diverse relations to new media 
and contemporary technological landscapes. .DPI is an alternative 
platform for communication and exchange in a zone of shared concerns 
between feminism and Net specific realities. We seek to initiate a 
technocritical exchange on the many preoccupations that women have 
concerning the technological ubiquity that we live with.
