January 17th is the birthday of Art!
To celebrate Art’s 1,000,0042nd Birthday and in combination with the Western Front's Reverie project, we are organizing a 24 hour web-cast of audio art under the theme of DREAM.

The works should be up to 10 minutes long. Artists can participate in different ways:
1. phone-in and the phone call will be relayed over the Internet.
2. send us a pre-recorded piece on CD, DAT, cassette.
3. send us a MP3 file over the Internet.
4. artists who are in Vancouver can perform their work live in our concert hall.

The broadcast time will be done at the time of your own birth, so provide a start time according to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

It can be your birth time, but if it is a collective this can be the time the band was formed too, not all the members birthdays.

Only one work per submitter (unless you were born twice).

There will also be some pre-birthday performances on the January 14-16.
If you would like to send a phone call to DREAM, contact us at reverie-info@front.bc.ca

- CV
- description détaillée du projet

The first one will be in Carcassonne, France (near Toulouse):
IPSI-2005 FRANCE (Carcassonne is a UNESCO World Heritage City)
Deadlines: 20 December 04 (abstract) & 20 January 05 (full paper)

All IPSI BgD conferences are non-profit. They bring together the elite of the world of science; so far, we have had seven Nobel Laureates speaking at the opening ceremonies. The conferences always take place in some of the most attractive places of the world. All those who come to IPSI conferences once, always love to come back (because of the unique professional quality and the extremely creative atmosphere); lists of past participants are on the web, as well as details of future conferences.
These conferences are in line with the newest recommendations of the US National Science Foundation and of the EU research sponsoring agencies, to stress multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary research (M.I.T. research). The speakers and activities at the conferences truly support this type of scientific interaction.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
* Internet
* Computer Science and Engineering
* Mobile Communications/Computing for Science and Business
* Management and Business Administration
* Education
* e-Medicine
* e-Oriented Bio Engineering/Science and Molecular Engineering/Science
* Environmental Protection
* e-Economy
* e-Law
* Technology Based Art and Art to Inspire Technology Developments
* Internet Psychology

If you would like more information on either conference:

Please distribute to female artists interested in a Germany-based international internet platform for new media art. http://www.bild-rausch.de/ is a new internet platform with the goal to present and enable networks between female artists working in video and new media. The network project bild-rausch promotes the mutual dialog of female artists, it serves archiving and communication and is open to curators, art managers, gallery owners, art agencies etc. as an information marketplace.

Bild-rausch collects information about artworks and current websites of female artists and displays them on online archives in the form of a brief biography, a small sample of images, as well as a web link. Interested female artists who are working with new media (for example photography, video art, performance and action art, computer art, net art, sound art and game art) are invited to apply at http://www.bild-rausch.de/

GirlSpoken invites you to join voices with young women across Canada and contribute to a book of writings and artwork on growing into ourselves...

What We're Looking For:
We are looking for bold pieces from 13-19 year old girls and young women on the challenges, big moments and sweet joys of growing up. GirlSpoken invites you to speak your mind, to explode with colour or to capture photos that reveal what you're all about. We want to hear from you about what makes you who you are, what you value, how you express yourself and the things you have experienced. What do you want to tell the world about what it's like to be you? We are looking for fiction and non-fiction pieces that are inspired by your own life.

The Nitty Gritty:
Your piece can take the form of a piece of writing or a self portrait in the medium of your choice (photography, drawing, painting, collage etc.).

Writing
Written submissions should be based on your own experiences and can take any form (stories, poetry, rants, ramblings, journal entries, lyrics, letters, spoken word pieces, etc.).

Artwork
We are looking for self-portraits that are a creative expression of who you are. Your self-portraits can be in any medium (photography, drawing, painting, collage, etc.). Each self portrait must include a short paragraph on what the piece means to you. Any artwork that is 3-dimensional or larger than a letter sized (81/2 x 11") sheet of paper, should be submitted as a photograph of the piece.

Submission info
Each contributor can submit multiple pieces. Please send your piece by post or email with your completed permission to print form (found at www.girlspoken.ca). Include all contact information possible (name and/or pen name, age, mailing address, email address, telephone number). If you would like your work returned, please include a self-addressed stamped envelope. You can choose to contribute anonymously or use a pen name. If you are submitting a previously published piece, please provide the publisher's contact information. Submissions in all languages are welcome; if possible please include an English translation.
A complete book information package is available for downloading at www.girlspoken.ca (includes a poster, cover letter, permission to print form and suggested activities).

The deadline for submissions is January 31st, 2005
