Welcome to the Studio XX Lab newsletter. This monthly mailing will help us keep our membership up to date on projects and activities at XX designed for our community. In each of the following sections you will find info on workshops, volunteer opportunities and group projects. Please take the time to read the newsletter and find out how you can take advantage of XX's new media resources.

The staff and volunteers of Studio XX wish you all the best this holiday season. We hope you find the new year to be full of exciting feminist projects. Don't forget that the Studio will be closed from the 20th of December to January the 6th.

The 6th edition of Studio XX's feminist cyber art festival: Maid in Cyberspace is but a few short months away. We need all hands on deck to help with web design, publicity and basic organization. If you are interested please attend the volunteer orientation meeting on Wednesday January 8th at 5:00pm. For more information call: 845-7934 or email: miriam@studioxx.org

Montreal's South Asian Women's Community Centre (SAWCC) is looking for a volunteer computer teacher for a series of workshops beginning on January 13th and ending mid-march.
The workshops cover PC basics including; file management, surfing te web and Office applications. Classes are held twice a week and can be scheduled according to the instructors needs.

Community Access Program at XX

The Studio is proud to announce the launch of its Community Access Program(CAP). Supported by Industry Canada, the CAP program allows us to offer our i-Mac lab as a workspace free of charge from Monday - Thursday, 10am- 5pm. Come and surf the web, manipulate an image or learn more about making your own web page. As well, we are pleased to offer free intensive intro workshops every other Saturday.(see below)

We are currently looking for particpants for our Stamp microcontroller project group. the Stamp is a small microcontroller embeddded on a circuit board. It is used for making programmable circuit projects. By learning to work with the stamp you can learn basic electronics, basic programming and the principles of interactivity. STUDIO XX MEMBERS

Are you interested in learning more about image manipulation, free of charge?

New in 2002/2003 Studio XX offers user groups, opportunities for women to share their knowledge with each other,through mediated online forums and monthly on-site meetings.

Studio xx will host a forum a portal from at which group members can post queries and browse for a response.
The forum will be mediated by a knowledgable volunteer who will also provide help and condense archives into categories, as well as conducting on line tutorials via the forum.

Once a month members of the user group are invited to XX to participate in a group learning event where each member is invited to share and explain aspects of her learning process.
