BIOGRAPHIE :: Olfa Driss est artiste visuelle et réalise principalement des installations médiatiques. Ses oeuvres explorent l’interactivité en relation avec la poésie et la fiction. Olfa Driss est née en Tunisie où elle a obtenu un baccalauréat à l’École des Beaux-Arts de Tunis et a reçu une bourse d’état de deuxième cycle pour le Canada. Elle vit et travaille au Montréal depuis cinq ans, et a obtenu une maîtrise en multimédia à l’Université du Québec à Montréal en 2006.
Ses travaux actuels portent sur la poésie et la symbolique de la lumière ainsi que les paysages canadiens en contre point avec ceux du Sahara dans le désert Tunisien.

Olfa Driss : Vidéo, Concept visuel
Cette bande vidéo a été conçue initialement dans le but d’être projetée dans le jardin d’une galerie afin d’offrir une expérience poétique et sensorielle. Elle prend ainsi l’espace intime du jardin de la galerie La Centrale à Montréal ainsi que le thème du décalage comme point de départ.
Les différents tableaux proposés dans cette vidéo introduisent la notion du « décalage », tant dans l’espace que dans le temps. Les vidéos, tournées durant l’hiver dans différents endroits, entre autres dans le jardin de La Centrale, sont projetées pendant l’été, proposant ainsi un décalage quant aux saisons.
La composition sonore a été réalisée par Martin Leduc artiste en installations sonores. La pièce utilise une longue corde, mise en vibration par électromagnétisme.

BIOGRAPHY : Olfa Driss is a visual artist specialized in media installations. Her Works explore the use of video and interactivity as a vehicle for poetry and fiction. Olfa Driss was born in Tunisia where she received a BFA of Fine Arts from l’École des Beaux-Arts de Tunis. She moved to Canada five years ago, were she received a Master in Media Arts from Université du Québec à Montréal in 2006. Currently she works on ways of expressing the poetry and the symbolic of light. In particular by drafting the contrasts between the Canadian landscapes and those of the Sahara in the Tunisian desert.

This video was initially created in order to be projected in the garden space of a gallery to offer a poetic and sensory sound and visual experience. It takes the intimate space of the garden at La Centrale Galerie Powerhouse in Montreal as a starting point, focusing on the topic of “décalage”. The videos introduce the notion of “décalage”, both for space and time. The videos were filmed during the winter season by the artist and later projected during the summer season in the same scene. A dialogue is established between two screens reinforcing the idea of the ”décalage” : in space with its vibrant lines and in time with a delay between both videos.
Martin Leduc, a sound installations artist, created the sound composition by using a long cord set into vibration by electromagnetism.
