Studio XX and Matricules at Histories and Archives Colloquium

Studio XX have presented two ArtTalks focusing on the topic of « Open Source and The Matricules Online Archive : A Major Creation by a Feminist Artist-run Centre » in the context of The Histories and Archives, Arts and Hypermediatic Literature International Colloquium. The .dpi editorial team was also present Studio XX’s .dpi electronic journal.

On Thursday, February 7th, Studio XX Board Vice-President Hélène Prévost was honored with a Lifetime Tribute. Montreal’s musical and radio phonic community gathered at the Society for Art and Technology (SAT) to pay homage and celebrate. The event underscored the exceptional lifelong contribution of this Radio-Canada radio director and her inexhaustible passion and curiosity for new music in all its forms.

Six Artistic Projects Exploring Game Creation with Open Source tools at Studio XX. Studio XX is presently soliciting innovative proposals for interactive media projects to be entirely created using Open Source software. Instruction will begin on Saturday October 25th 2008 from 9am till noon.

From China to Quebec

From China to Quebec is a project by which Studio XX is initiating a dialogue with Montreal’s Chinese women. Although the Chinese community settled in Montreal over a century ago, Chinese women remain largely withdrawn from Quebec society. This situation raises issues of isolation, fragility, precariousness and immobility.
