Despite the influx of technological tools and ubiquitous communication networks, mobility and the state of being mobile still do not exist without negotiating systems of inclusion or exclusion. It remains necessary for an individual to navigate personal and external control structures before undertaking movement.

From the 18th to the 31st of October a group of artists and works from the 7th edition of the HTMlles Festival: Peripheries + Proximities travelled to Serbia, Bulgaria, and Turkey. The artists presented their works in the format of interactive workshops, artists talks, performances and short exhibitions. The main goal of the travel was the interaction with local artists, publics and curators.

Dans l’arène politico-géographique lourdement chargée d’un discours oppressif, comment soulever aujourd'hui des voix courageuses et audacieuses, des voix qui osent et agissent dans les dérives du cybermonde ? Comment pratiquer des résistances, non selon des paramètres imposés par d'autres, mais par ceux qui proviennent de l'ingéniosité des individus et des réseaux, basés sur une solidarité nécessaire et décisive et un désir de contrer les dogmes et régimes opprimants?

Studio XX, Montreal’s foremost women’s digital resource centre, is proud to present the 6th edition of Maid in Cyberspace, an international media art festival which will take place from February 4th to 8th at the Fondation Jean-Pierre Perreault, 2022 Sherbrooke East (at the corner of de Lorimier).

Studio XX, a women’s digital and media arts resource centre, presents the 5th edition of its cyberart festival, Maid in Cyberspace/Les Htmlles promising new discoveries from February 6 to10, with over 25 works, installations, performances, conferences and special presentations by women artists from as far away as Argentina, Australia, the United States and from here at home. This year, the Festival will have a presence in Quebec City for the first time in collaboration with LACHAMBRE BLANCHE, from February 9 to 10.

HTMlles Maid in Cyberspace 3 - 2000

Studio XX presents in collaboration with the Cinémathèque québécoise its 3rd edition of the Maid in Cyberspace Web Festival which will take place at: Cinémathèque québécoise - 335 Boul. de Maisonneuve E., Montréal February 1 to 6, 2000. The Maid in Cyberspace Web Festival explores Web art creations and installation works that combine digital media and traditional art practices.

HTMlles Maid in Cyberspace 2 - 1998 :: Encore !

Maid in Cyberspace - Encore! is Studio XX's 2nd annual international festival of web art by women.

Maid in Cyberspace - Encore! will be held November 6th to 28th, 1998
Tueday to Saturday noon to 6pm
at Belgo 410, 372 Ste-Catherine West, #410, Montréal.

Eleven women artists from Canada (Montréal, Toronto, Calgary), New York, Australia, England, Scotland, and Estonia will present web art projects in the festival.
