digitAtelier - The garden of sounds planting the seeds of aural subversion.An evening that featured the works of six sound artists from Montreal. The artists presented their latest sound projects — some of which were done in the context of the digitAtelier peer workshop at Studio XX under the guidance of Monique Jean. Participants’ ears were titilated as they discovered the aural possibilities of the computer! Sound projects produced by some of the digitAtelier participants: Smogbog, Andrea Holtslander Auralamnesia, Patricia Reed Kitchenette, Katarina Soukup Monique Jean is an electroacoustic composer. Her work is often featured in video, experimental film and installation art. Andra McCartney is a multimedia soundscape artist and teaches sound in media in the Communication Studies department at Concordia. Patricia Reed is a thief, an aesthetic and an experiential manager. Katarina Soukup is a media artist, writer, and radio broadcaster whose performative radio art has been presented in Montreal, Amsterdam, and the Czech Republic. Andrea Holtslander is currently doing a graduate diploma in Communication Studies at Concordia where she is focussing on digital sound art. The work of Marie-Josée Coulombe, which was created during the digitAtelier course was also presented.
