Professional Development Workshops
Studio XX periodically offers professional development workshops
to artists.These workshops offer intensive training and access
to the tools or software necessary to the development of a
professional oeuvre. Each workshops offers practical workshops
and a public presentation of the finished pieces.

in professional development workshops.

Acoustic Space –- MAX Workshop
MAX is a useful if not essential tool for interdisciplinary
and tech artists alike. MAX is an extremely user-friendly programming
environment that enables users to conceive their own computer
programmes in order to carry out specific tasks. Instead of
using text language (such as C++ or BASIC), objects and functions
are represented by a graphical interface. |

The workshop: Learning the basics
of PHP programming, aims to give the community of women
media artists in Montreal the opportunity to develop basic knowledge
about programming by developing their software development and
logic skills. During an intense process of research and creation
at the Studio.
PHP – Hypertext Preprocessor – was chosen as the
programming language of choice for the workshop. It is popular,
remarkably functional, flexible, well thought-out and stable.

Interactive
Fictions , 2001 - 2001 Under the supervision of D.Kimm,
writer and multidisciplinary artist, and Stéphanie Lagueux,
artist and Web instructor, eight writers learned interactive
writing. The workshop served as a process of reflexion, learning
and creation of the inherent possibilities of hypertextual interactivity. |

- The Garden of Sounds: Planting the seeds of aural subversion,
2000
The digitAtelier peer workshop at Studio XX, took place under
the guidance of Monique Jean. Participants’ ears were
titilated as they discovered the aural possibilities of the
computer! You can listen to the digital sound projects created
par some of the participants : Patricia Reed, Katarina Soukup,
Andrea Holtslander, & Marie-Josée Coulombe. |

Masters
course in Web Art production - 1999
This workshop helped experienced net_artists develop tools for
the production of high level (for its time) web_art. SOm eof
teh subjects covered, Creative use of images, backgrounds, frames,
roll-overs, plug-ins, animation, javascript, Dhtml,composition
sound and video. |
