Oral Histories is a mentoring project wich take shape through
audio production workshops at Studio XX and conversations
between adolescents and seniors. Conceived as a project to
foster communication between adolescents and seniors, these
conversations will be turned into radio documentaries and
a web site devoted to them.
APPRENTICESHIP
Participants will learn:
-journalistic interview skills
-creating radio documentary
-audio mixing and editing
-and web audio skills
Radio documentaries will be presented
on CKUT-FM (XX Files show) and on CIBL-FM. They will also
be posted on the website of Studio XX (www.studioxx.org).
SCHEDULE
Project duration: 12 weeks (12 hrs of courses and 24 hrs of
directed workshops)
from jan. 28 to 27 2005.

BIOGRAPHIES OF THE ANIMATORS
Chantal Dumas: is an audio
and radio artist who has produced independently more than
25 radiophonic creations which are broadcast locally and internationally.
She has won international prizes, among them for documentary
at the Phonurgia Nova competition of France. She is currently
creating a work called TANZ for Deutschlandradio Berlin.
Valerie Walker: is a consultant
in computer systems who holds a bachelors degree in electrical
engineering and computer science from UCBerkeley. She is also
co-host and producer of the XX Files, a radio show that gives
a feminist perspective on technology, every wed. 11:30 am
on CKUT 90.3 FM.
